Acne
Acne is the most frequent skin condition seen by medical professionals. It consists of pimples that appear on the face, back and chest. Moles (Nevi)
Moles are brown or black growths, usually round or oval, that can appear anywhere on the skin. They can be rough or smooth, flat or raised, single or in multiples. They occur when cells that are responsible for skin pigmentation, known as melanocytes, grow in clusters instead of being spread out across the skin. Generally, moles are less than one-quarter inch in size. Most moles appear by the age of 20, although some moles may appear later in life. Read More »

Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes facial redness, acne-like pimples, visible small blood vessels on the face, swelling and/or watery, irritated eyes. This inflammation of the face can affect the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead or eyelids. More than 14 million Americans suffer from rosacea. Skin Cancers
Skin cancer is the most common form of human cancers, affecting more than one million Americans every year. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer at some point in their lives. Skin cancers are generally curable if caught early. However, people who have had skin cancer are at a higher risk of developing a new skin cancer, which is why regular self-examination and doctor visits are imperative. Read More »
Warts
Warts are small, harmless growths that appear most frequently on the hands and feet. Sometimes they look flat and smooth, other times they have a dome-shaped or cauliflower-like appearance. Warts can be surrounded by skin that is either lighter or darker. Warts are caused by different forms of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). They occur in people of all ages and can spread from person-to-person and from one part of the body to another. Warts are benign (noncancerous) and generally painless. Read More »
Wrinkles
Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process. They occur most frequently in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, back of the hands and forearms. Over time, skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic. Ultimately, this causes wrinkles - either fine lines or deep furrows. In addition to sun exposure, premature aging of the skin is associated with smoking, heredity and skin type (higher incidence among people with fair hair, blue-eyes and light skin). Read More »
Pearl Fractional: Dr. Borton is excited to bring this new technology to our practice. She made the decision to invest in a Pearl Fractional handpiece for our Cutera platform after extensive research with her colleague, Dr. Roy Grekin, Head of Dermatologic Surgery at UCSF. Pearl Fractional is revolutionary technology that enables patients to have the benefits of CO2 resurfacing with less risks and less downtime. Pear Fractional is ideal for patients who are looking to correct texture, fine wrinkles, deep wrinkles, and scarring. For patient's looking to correct pigment issues as well, ask about "Pearl Fusion" treatments that combine IPL and Fractional treatments to create an exponentially better effect to maximize results. http://www.cutera.com/
Thermage: For the past 7 years, Dr. Borton has been using Thermage for treatment of aging skin to improve elasticity and firmness. Thermage tightens skin by way of radio frequency. Thermage can be used for tightening the face, eyes, and abdomen. You will start to see results in 3 months and continue to see tightening 3,6,9, months out. In the past several years, our practice has seen the technology of Thermage continue to improve and yield increasingly pleasing results for patients while simultaneously offering a higher degree of comfort. This procedure is ideal for patients looking for a non-invasive, no downtown skin tightening procedure. http://www.thermage.com/
Intense Pulse Light (IPL): Dr. Borton first introduced IPL technology to Idaho over 10 years ago. In spite of the fact that IPL was pioneered greater than 20 years ago, improved versions of this light device continue to be the work-horse of many cosmetic dermatology practices because of the broad range of improvements it has to offer patients with aging skin. IPL addresses the redness and dilated blood vessels of rosacea patients, the brown or blotchy hyperpigmentation of aging and sun-damaged skin and improves texture, pore size, and fine lines. Dr. Borton was trained in IPL as well as lasers by Dr. Roy Grekin, Chief of Dermatology Surgery at University of California San Francisco. Dr. Grekin is a well-recognized expert in this field and has been instrumental in bringing many lasers to FDA approval, including the Cutera IPL/laser which we currently use. IPL is a series of 5 treatments with at least 3-6 weeks between treatments. The health and texture of your skin is beautiful after a series of IPL. We do offer individual treatment, but know that it does take a series of 5 treatments to see maximum results and by purchasing a package of 5 you receive 1 treatment at no cost. http://www.cutera.com/
Fillers:
Dr. Borton trained in the early 1980s with the pioneers of the first filler, Collagen. She has been injecting fillers for 30 years, since her dermatology residency at University of California San Francisco. At the present time, the fillers used in our practice are:
Juvederm: This is a hyaluronic acid filler and is typically used to plump the lines between the nose and corners of the mouth, but it can be used to beautifully correct essentially any unwanted wrinkle. http://www.allergan.com/products/medical_aesthetics/juvederm.htm
Sculptra: Dr. Borton has been injecting Sculptra for the past three years and is considered an expert injector. Sculptra is a filler which increases the volume of aging skin through a series of injections which result in a more youthful and lifted appearance. It is known as the “Liquid Face Lift.” http://www.sculptraaesthetic.com/
Botox:
An injection that temporarily blocks the chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract. Also helps to eliminate frown lines, crows feet and other wrinkles. Can also eliminate sweating. Dr. Borton trained with the pioneers of Botox for cosmetic use, Drs. Alastair and Jean Carruthers. Dr. Borton has been injecting unwanted wrinkles with Botox since 1993. http://www.allergan.com/products/medical_aesthetics/botox_cosmetic.htm
